Data Donation Module
Data donation collection for academic research, made simple
The DDM is an open-source tool designed to make data donation collection transparent and easy to navigate—both for researchers setting up studies and participants contributing their data.
Key Features
Intuitive donation interface
A clear, guided donation experience for participants—fully configurable by the researcher
Survey integration
Includes a built-in survey tool, or link with your preferred platform (Qualtrics, Unipark, SoSci Survey, etc.)
Works on any device
Participants can participate through the browser on their desktop, tablet, or phone—no app installation required
Easy configuration
Configure your entire study—donation flow and survey—through a visual interface
Privacy by design
DDM puts participant privacy first
Local Processing: Data is extracted in the participant's browser and only submitted after explicit consent
Encryption: All donated data is encrypted before storage
Enhanced Encryption: Activate enhanced encryption for an additional layer of security (e.g., if you're dealing with health data)
Multi-language support
DDM displays in your participants' language automatically: English, German, Italian, and French are included—and you can add custom translations for any project
Try DDM out
Create a free account on our EU-hosted, GDPR-compliant platform and see how it works.
Free accounts include one project with up to five test participants—enough to explore the full workflow. When you're ready to run your study, upgrading is easy.
You can also host DDM yourself: DDM is open-source and can be installed on your own server. Self-hosting requires technical knowledge (server setup, Django, database) and access to reliable infrastructure.
